About this place
A familiar sight along the Odakyu rail lines, Nadai Hakonesoba also has a branch right by the Showa-dori exit of JR Akihabara Station. It operates as an approachable stand-style soba shop where solo diners can drop in between commutes or transfers for a quick, wholesome bowl.
A cornerstone of the menu pairs freshly cooked soba noodles with a crisp kakiage mixed-vegetable tempura fritter. As it rests in the subtly sweet warm dashi broth, the tempura oil and the natural sweetness of sliced onions gently seep into the soup, lending it richer depth with every bite. Adding a raw egg turns it into ten-tama soba, where the silky yolk coats both noodles and batter for an even more comforting bowl. During warmer months, chilled versions take over, alongside refreshing toppings such as grated nagaimo yam or silky mekabu seaweed.
When you want something more substantial, set menus featuring miniature rice bowls are an easy choice. From mini kakiage bowls and mini Japanese curry to fried chicken or miso katsu bowls, you can match your mood with either soba or udon. Diners seeking a lighter bite can simply add a side such as tanuki onigiri with tempura crumbs or sweet inarizushi.
Open from 7:00 in the morning until late at night, the shop caters to early breakfasts, lunchtime combinations, and post-work evening bowls. The ticket vending machines accept IC transit cards as well as cash, letting you pick your meal and head to the counter without delay.
